Creative Christmas: 30th December 2017

What a year it has been for the study of fashion in gaming huh? As an academic pursuit it has come on leaps in bounds in 2017, largely thanks to OverThinker Y‘s piece on Jackets in gaming, followed shortly after by my own essay on Goggles. So today’s Creative Christmas question, set by Kim at Later Levels should really be a great way to round off the year.

So to the question:

You’ve been invited to a swanky New Year’s Eve party but have nothing suitable to wear! Which video game character do you call to ask if you can borrow an outfit?

I’ll be honest with you, I wasn’t originally going to do this one because there are TOO MANY OPTIONS! But since research into this kind of thing has been going so well this year, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to contribute further.

Now, It isn’t impossible that someone else is going to pick her (perhaps, y’know, LightningEllen?) but the character I’m going to have to pick for this is:

Lightning!

The thing about Lightning is that she has SO many outfits, so if I was to rifle through her wardrobe (if she would let me), then I’d be sure to find something to wear no matter what my mood (although, I’m not sure I’d pull them all off as well as her…).

Perhaps I’m looking for a stunning ball gown. No problem, Lightning’s got one:

What if the party is a rave? Again, no worries!

Perhaps I’m going to a Cosplay party?

Anyway, I think I’ve proved my point! That is quite a wardrobe to behold!
