…On the First Day of Blogmas

Hello wonderful readers and Happy Boxing Day! Thank you for joining me on this marvellous day of leftovers and tidying up. Today marks the beginning of a special Christmas collaboration organised by the always awesome Athena from AmbiGamingCorner, aptly named ‘The Twelve Days of Blogmas‘.

Christmas Day may be over but if you think you’ve had all your presents then you are WRONG! That is because each blogger taking part in this collaboration will be offering 364 blogtastic festive gifts, all to the tune of the Twelve Days of Christmas. See what Athena did there? Blogmas/Christmas? AWESOMEMAS!

So, this is a sing along but what’s the first line? Well…*ahem*…

On the 1st day of Blogmas, the gamers said to me: What are 12 favorite gaming memories?

You got that? Right, sing it with me…

On the 1st day of Blogmas, the gamers said to me: What are 12 favorite gaming memories?

Yay! You got it! So let’s have a look at what gaming memories I’m bringing to this festive sing-song!

Pix Xmas

  1. Getting my first ever console as a birthday present. It was an XBox 360 and I was about 26!
  2. Waiting for my partner in town after work and him showing up with a huge bag from Game with a Wii U in it. The look on my face was priceless!
  3. Winning the Champions League with my beloved Sunderland AFC in Championship Manager 2
  4. Having a Tekken themed birthday party, complete with awesome cosplay.
  5. Playing Worms with my sister. We used to name our Worms after characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation and try to come up with increasingly silly ways to kill Worf.
  6. Watching the Nintendo press conference in January 2017 where we found out what the NX Switch actually is.
  7. Attending Distant Worlds at the Royal Albert Hall in 2017.img_0548
  8. Cooperatively (well…taking turns) beating various Tekken games in arcades with my partner: Tekken: Dark Resurrection in a now defunct arcade in London, Tekken 5 at a cinema in Manchester and Tekken Tag Tournament at Glasgow gaming bar Super Bario.
  9. Playing Civilization and Master of Orion with various members of my family back in the days where competitive multiplayer in turn-based strategy games meant turning to not face the screen when it wasn’t your turn. Come to think of it, it might still work like that!
  10. Cooperatively beating ‘Through the Fire and Flames’ on Expert in Guitar Hero: Smash Hits with me on vocals and my partner on guitar, then running round the apartment frantically trying to find batteries for the camera so we could take a photo of the screen!ThroughtheFireandFlamesredact3
  11. Watching other people play games (many people, many games, many places, many memories)
  12. My best friend’s wedding. They had a Resident Evil style typewriter as a guest book and the tables for the meal were named after fictional locations – I was sat at ‘Cosmo Canyon’ and I was over the moon to receive the table sign as a Christmas present yesterday!img_1354

So, there we have it! That’s me completed the first day of Blogmas! Make sure you hop on over to Athena’s place to check out the other entries and check back tomorrow for day 2. If you’re lucky Athena might even offer you one of her awesome video game themed cocktails *winks*.

Thanks for reading,
