…On the Sixth Day of Blogmas

Hello readers and welcome to the Sixth Day of Blogmas as we join in with this fabulous Christmas sing-a-long, all brought to you by the fantastic mind of Athena from AmbiGaming.

So! What are we singing about today? Well…

On the 6th day of Christmas, the gamers said to me: Share seven of your favorite posts

Lets sing!

On the 1st day of Christmas, the gamers said to me: What are 12 favorite gaming memories?

On the 2nd day of Christmas, the gamers said to me: Tell us 11 games you love!

On the 3rd day of Christmas, the gamers said to me: What are 10 reasons you’d play a game

On the 4th day of Christmas, the gamers said to me: Give us 9 games on your to-play list

On the 5th day of Christmas, the gamers said to me: 8 characters you love!

On the 6th day of Christmas, the gamers said to me: Share seven of your favorite posts

Ooh! Well this is a nice one. I wasn’t sure to begin with whether it is seven of my own posts or seven posts by other people, so I’ve gone with the latter as I’ve read so much awesome stuff throughout the year! I encourage anyone and everyone reading this to check out these posts. For the sake of nothing in particularly I have limited myself to one post per person so’s to share the love, and even then, seven isn’t enough to do justice to all the amazing blog posts I’ve read in 2018 so THANK YOU to everyone in the blogging community for putting so much effort and thought into writing awesome posts!

  1. Chris from OverThinker Y presents High Score Haute Couture – The Final Runway. This was the winning entry in the inaugural installment of High Score Haute Couture – The Gaming Fashion Show. Although it was tough for my entrant, Repede to accept defeat, both me and the fashionable mutt were awestruck by Samus’s performance on Chris’s runway. A deserved winner and some of the most fun I’ve had all year. A decision has not yet been made on the future of the event, but even if it never runs again I think it was a huge success and it was so much fun to work with Chris throughout and to read his stunning take on the gaming catwalk.

Loved Chris’ designs throughout High Score Haute Couture!
  2. The Gaming Diaries presents The Media and Gaming Addiction. This is one of the best articles I’ve read all year and I don’t just mean in a blog. This article is so well written, well researched and well argued that it betters any discussion of gaming addiction I’ve read in the published press and I think it should be essential reading for anyone who is commenting or legislating on gaming addiction.
  3. Ian from Adventure Rules presents Blogger Blitz: Black Sheep Championship Match. I was lucky enough to be a judge in this year’s Blogger Blitz competition and had the pleasure of reading and adjudicating on all the amazing entries. As well as all the awesome entries though, Blogger Blitz features the fabulous talents of the event’s creator, Ian. His results posts have become things of legend in the blogging community, from the way he builds suspense to his hilarious drawings, and the championship post from this years competition was no different. Full of humour and suspense, it was an awesome read even if I already knew the result!

This design by Ian is just so cool!
  4. Luna from Gamers United GG presents Gamers House Winner! Luna often comes up with awesome events, and when I heard she was doing a video game themed reality TV house I was blown away by it. With hilarious interviews with the characters, video game challenges and an awesome host in Professor Oak, this event had everything. The final was no let down, with the finalists – Lightning, Spyro, Zelda and Peppy duking it out to take the number one spot. I wont spoil the surprise of who won though, you’ll just have to go and read it!
  5. Brandon from That Green Dude presents Resident Evil Memories. You may have guessed by now but I love both community collaborations and Resident Evil, so what could be better than combining the two in time for the much-anticipated release of the Resident Evil 2 remake on 25th January 2019. Brandon is inviting games writers from around the world to submit articles about their memories of the Resident Evil series. I am planning to submit something for this myself soon, but I can’t wait to see what everyone else comes up with! It isn’t too late to take part so if you’re a fan of the series why not check out Brandon’s post and submit your own memories.
  6. Matthew from Normal Happenings presents The Games that Define us. Matt has a bit of a talent for running amazing collaborations, and this was a massive one! Featuring 35 pieces by talented bloggers, each writing about a video game that has defined them in some way. Reading and writing for this was an emotional roller-coaster, but Matt’s amazing presentation and support meant that The Games That Define Us really became a defining collaboration for many of us bloggers. Can’t wait to see what else he has planned for the future (speaking of which, I think an announcement is due soon, so make sure you keep an eye on Normal Happenings!)

  7. Ellen from Livid Lightning presents Ace Ace, Baby! Moar Asexual Representation in Games, Please. This is probably the bravest and coolest post I’ve read all year. Discussing sexuality is never an easy thing to do no matter what, but Ellen’s article really shows just how little representation there is of asexuality not only in video games but in the media as a whole. It is long past time to change this people so let’s make sure that the developers, authors, film makers and musicians take heed.

So, what do you think? Did you enjoy any of these posts too? Maybe you have some other posts from 2018 you think I should read? Let me know below in comments and to all my readers may I wish you a safe and happy new year when it comes to your part of the world.

Thanks for reading in 2018,
