Hello dear readers and welcome back for more Seriously Geeky Sunday goodness! Today we’re talking about the old telly-box so why not join me to find out all about my favourite TV shows!
This week’s Seriously Geeky Sunday is a bit of a different one as the subject means I can’t really chat about video games, but I’m very much looking forward to sharing with you some of the TV shows I’ve loved over the years and how television fits into my life today!
Thanks as always to Heather over at Just Geeking By for keeping us on our toes with these prompts!
Do you watch much television?

I think the best way for me to answer this is to say yes and no. I don’t watch anywhere near as much as I did when I was younger – back in my teenage years television was probably the central obsession in my life – and yet there are still a lot of things I do watch, and I still have regular time slots in my week for watching anime.
What genres do you like to watch?

Most of the TV I watch now is anime, which of course crosses many genres, but I also watch a lot of sci-fi as well as various types of live broadcast television like elections, sports and live wildlife shows. I love nature documentaries although I don’t watch all of them, and I used to have a huge obsession with cop shows, although this has dwindled a bit in recent years. My relationship with TV has changed a lot over the years and although I still love many shows that I watched back then, I haven’t really kept up to date with any recent fictional TV shows that aren’t anime, and I don’t think I’ve watched a new series of anything that falls into the fiction category since the new series of The X-Files they did a few years ago.
What shows are you watching at the moment?

Quite a lot of things! I’ve recently started watching Charmed from the start and am very much looking forward to seeing more of it. I kinda ignored it when it first came out but am actually really enjoying it. I’m also re-watching DS9 and am nearly at the end of Season 6. It is one of my favourite shows of all time but this is the first time I’ve rewatched it from start to finish and I’m finally getting to show it to my partner so it is really exciting! The problem now is that I don’t want it to end! I’m also watching a bunch of anime including Digimon Adventure: (2020), One-Punch Man, Boogiepop & Others, Mushi-Shi and given. That reminds me that I really should write an anime update post for y’all!
Are there any TV shows that you like to rewatch?

Although I own a bunch of box sets and have occasionally re-watched things (mostly Babylon 5), there isn’t anything in particular that I rewatch over and over again. It’s kinda funny actually because there are many films I rewatch frequently and a couple of video games that I replay, but somehow when it comes to TV not really.
Do you watch TV shows live or stream?

Technically I stream everything as my flat doesn’t have a TV aerial but I would say my viewing habits are a mixture of the two. As I said I watch a lot of live events and I always endeavour to watch them live as it just doesn’t feel the same watching them after the fact. With anime as well, although I don’t watch it as-broadcast, if I’m watching a new show I will watch the new episode the same week it comes out. That said I also watch box sets and older anime shows on Crunchyroll as I please. I use BBC IPlayer a lot for sports and wildlife stuff but to be honest the idea of regular TV channels with weekly scheduling feels a bit alien to me now!
What TV shows are you looking forward to the most?

There are A TON of anime’s I’m looking forward to continuing next year. New series of Dr Stone (pictured above) and My Hero Academia should be happening early next year and I’m still holding out for a second series of Yuri on Ice!!! Not announced yet, but I’m also hopeful that they will make an anime series for Persona 5 Royal, I mean they did for Persona 4 Golden so fingers crossed!
So there we have it! A bit of insight into my TV habits and favourite shows! What about you though? Are there any shows you’d like to recommend? Let me know below in the comments section and don’t forget to check out all of this week’s Seriously Geeky Sunday entries!
